The research thoroughly reviews numerous Latin, Greek, and other sources (late antique or medieval). These diverse works, originating from different literary traditions, offer varying perspectives on the events, enriching our understanding of this complex and transformative period, along with various material remains. The historical significance of the aforementioned developments was profound: they served as a precursor to the catastrophic defeat of the Eastern Roman army at the renowned Battle of Adrianople in 378 and marked the initial phase of the subsequent collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5^th century due to Germanic and other invasions. In essence, these events represent a crucial turning point in the so-called “Migration Period” and the era of “barbarian invasions,” as well as in the transition from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages for the Greco-Roman world and the broader Mediterranean basin.
